Autumn Checklist
- Plant trees and shrubs.
- Plant new hedges.
- Transplant small trees and shrubs that need shifting.
- Feed camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas, and daphne with acid plant food.
- Rake up autumn leaves for the compost heap.
- Sow sweet pea seeds directly into well prepared soil.
- Sow new lawns, or revamp existing lawns.
- Plant spring flowering bulbs.
- Plant pots with winter flowering annuals, such as pansies, violas, polyanthus,
- Cut back, lift and divide perennials.
- Prepare and plant the winter vegetable garden. Seedlings to plant now include broccoli, spinach, cabbage, and lettuce.
- Harvest pumpkins, potatoes, and onions before the frosts and store them in a cool dry place.
- Guard against slugs and snails which revel in autumn weather.
- Divide and replant rhubarb into well composted soil.
- Plant citrus trees, blueberries and raspberries.
